What is this job all about? 

The Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for managing efforts and programs focused on enhancing employees’ level of connection/engagement with the Arc of the Ozarks.

The Employee Engagement Specialist must collaborate with others in order to achieve effective retention practices. The Employee Engagement Specialist works well as a member of the Recruitment and Retention Team in its overall strategy and execution. The Employee Engagement Specialist (EES) is an exempt, salaried position.

That’s nice, but what will I actually be doing?

The Employee Engagement Specialist position is exciting because there is no day that is the same! In this role you will:

  • Develops, executes, and provides feedback to leadership on levels of engagement throughout the Arc.
  • Identifies areas of strength in the Arc’s engagement and retention practices as well as areas for development and growth with ideas for enhancing both.
  • In addition to organization-wide survey efforts, the EEP regularly visits individual worksites to interact with and to gain and maintain the “pulse” of the organization in regard to employee engagement.
  • Sufficiently cross-trained across the various inward-focused HR efforts to provide assistance with multiple engagement endeavors: benefits enrollment, FMLA-related needs, reasonable accommodation dialogues, employee recognition, training, etc.
  • Forms close relationships with program directors and team supervisors to ensure clear expectations for developing positive engagement with their teams.
  • Works specifically in the arenas of career development and succession planning to help all employees chart their best possible future with the Arc.
  • Conducts regular “stay” interviews across the organization to encourage retention and to identify areas for enhancement. Communicates recommendations with identified team members as appropriate.
  • Participates in employee orientation and appropriate other trainings so as to set an engagement mentality from day one of employment.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective due diligence.
  • Investigates and responds to employee relation issues such as employee concerns, harassment allegations or other complaints. Makes recommendations and/or implements appropriate resolution(s).
  • Coaches management staff on the appropriate disciplinary procedures consistent with agency policy and practice. Reviews and/or approves disciplinary actions, making the appropriate
